I’ve been blogging since 2005. In 2010, one of my posts made the top five in Creative Nonfiction’s Fall blog post competition.
I’m setting up a new personal blog (launching soon) having broken my old one beyond repair. (Oops.) In the meantime, you can check out some of the posts I’ve written for a variety of places:
Ms.:Missouri Schoolgirl is Not Alone
Persephone Magazine:
Why Reality Bites is Still Worth Watching
The F Word: Caitlin Moran and Feminism’s Ableism Problem
FWD/Forward: Stuck and tired: how universities are failing students with disabilities like me
The Guardian: I’ve written lots of posts, on books, TV, and film. Some of my favourites:
Should authors censor their work at public readings?
Why I never want to hear Roger McGough Talk Talk again
We just can’t beat Americans at trashy TV
Uncongratulations, you’re pregnant
Popgadget: (2008-09) Five posts a week for an audience of tech-savvy women. During my time there, we were commended by Oprah. (OK, her magazine, O. But still exciting.) I loved writing stories like Teenager designs false teeth for cats (no, really). Who wouldn’t?
Trashionista (2006-07) I was joint editor of (what was then) Shiny Media’s books blog for women. I edited contributors’ work, helped organise competitions, interviews and special theme weeks, and reviewed a heckofa lot of books. Proud moments include securing a Marian Keyes interview.(!!!)
TV Scoop: (2006-07) I was a regular contributor and the site’s first Strictly Come Dancing columnist. I later covered The Apprentice (liveblogging the final in 2007) and even defended Joey. (I’m not sure what I was thinking).
I also contributed to the Picador books blog, AOL’s Stylelist (weirdly, considering I think PJs are fine for daywear) and Catwalk Queen, Bridalwave, and Dollymix.
I’m always happy to give my opinions about blogging and have been interviewed on the topic by Grapevine Consulting and Press Gazette.
